Visitors and Attendant Rules

To protect the comfort, privacy, and recovery of our patients, we kindly ask all visitors, relatives, and international guests to follow the hospital guidelines below during their stay.

At Özel Mersin Ortadoğu Hospital, patient safety and a peaceful healing environment are among our highest priorities. These rules are designed to support effective care, infection control, and the well-being of both our local and international patients.

General Visiting Hours

General visiting hours are daily between 00:00 and 22:00. These hours are arranged with consideration for patient care routines, examinations, treatment procedures, and rest periods.

Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery Department

Due to the special treatment and monitoring requirements of patients in the Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery Department, visitor access is arranged under the supervision of the responsible physician and hospital staff.

For patients whose condition is appropriate for visits, visiting hours are 00:00–10:00 and 17:00–18:00.

Visitor Limitations

  • Visitors are kindly requested to enter patient rooms in groups of no more than two people at a time.
  • Each visit should be limited to approximately 15 minutes.
  • For some patients, the attending physician may restrict or suspend visits depending on the medical condition.

Visits by Children

  • For health and infection-control reasons, children under the age of 12 are kindly requested not to visit hospitalized patients.
  • For pediatric patients, both mother and father may stay as attendants upon request and where medically appropriate.

Health and Safety Measures

  • Individuals with flu-like symptoms, cough, fever, diarrhea, or other signs of infection are kindly asked not to visit.
  • Food and beverages should not be consumed inside patient rooms during visits.
  • Fresh flowers are not permitted in patient care areas.
  • Visitors are expected to wear clean and appropriate clothing.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the hospital.

Gifts and Personal Items

  • Visitors may bring suitable items such as books, magazines, newspapers, or personal hygiene products for the patient.
  • For patient safety, visitors should not sit on the patient’s bed.
  • Medical equipment, monitors, and treatment devices must not be touched.

Hand Hygiene

Proper hand hygiene is essential. All visitors are kindly requested to wash or sanitize their hands before entering the patient’s room.

Attendant Policy

The need for an attendant is determined by the responsible physician according to the patient’s condition. The number of attendants is limited to one person per patient.

Attendant Card

An attendant card will be provided by hospital staff during the admission process. The card should be kept with the attendant throughout the hospital stay.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Attendant

  • The attendant may assist the patient only within the limits approved by the physician and healthcare team.
  • If the attendant needs to leave the room temporarily or if there will be a change of attendant, the nursing staff must be informed in advance.

Maintaining a Peaceful Environment

  • Please do not speak loudly or create noise in patient rooms or service corridors.
  • If a television is used in the room, the volume should be kept at a level that does not disturb other patients.

Attendant Meals

Meals provided for attendants are subject to an additional charge.

Compliance with Hospital Rules

  • Attendants must not use tobacco or alcohol within hospital premises.
  • Patients must not be taken outside the hospital without medical permission.
  • Patient beds or room arrangements must not be changed without staff approval.
  • Following all general hospital rules is part of the attendant’s responsibilities.
